Area artists at Ann Arbor fairs

The Ann Arbor Art Fairs begin Wednesday, and at least four Jackson-area artists will be among the more than 1,200 people from around the world who will have booths on the downtown streets. They are ceramic artist Mary Humphrey of Jackson; painter Marie Ann Flanders of Jackson; and the husband-and-wife team of Jan and Deb LaPlante of Manitou Beach, who do hand-colored photography of Michigan landmarks and ceramics, respectively.

The annual event has grown to include four separate art fairs taking place simultaneously on the University of Michigan’s Diag and Ingall Mall; S. University Avenue and Liberty, State and Main streets; and several other adjoining cross streets.

Hours for the fairs are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through July 18 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 19.

Parking and shuttle transportation is available at Pioneer High School, 601 W. Stadium Blvd., and Briarwood Mall, 100 Briarwood Circle.

More information on the fairs, including a map, is available online at annarbor.org, or call 800-888-9487 for details.
