The Original Herrmann’s Royal Lipizzan Stallions of Austria will make an appearance this weekend at the Hillsdale County Fairgrounds.
The horses are descended from the rare Lipizzaner horses bred in Austria since the 16th century. Gen. George Patton went out of his way to save the breed near the end of World War II, as dramatized in the 1963 Disney movie “Miracle of the White Stallions.”
The Herrmann family has trained the horses for six generations and brought a stable to the United States in the 1960s.
The choreographed performances are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
In advance, tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for children 6 to 12, and $10 for seniors 62 and older. On the day of each show, tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children and $12 for seniors. Children 5 and younger are admitted free.
The fairgrounds are located at 115 S. Broad St. in Hillsdale.
